Debra Fortenberry has practiced law for over 25 years and is licensed in the State of Colorado. She received her Juris Doctor degree from The Ohio State University College of Law in 1989 and a Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude from Central Michigan University in 1984. Ms. Fortenberry has previously practiced with firms in Michigan and Colorado Springs before founding this firm in 2001. She has extensive trial and appellate experience and served as Assistant District Attorney for El Paso and Teller Counties.
Ms. Fortenberry is a member of the Colorado and El Paso County Bar Associations including the Real Estate Practice Section. She has helped organize attorney trainings to provide pro bono legal services on an emergency basis after the Waldo Canyon and Black Forest fires and has helped with the reforestation efforts by planting trees in the burn area. She has organized and taught attorney legal education related to foreclosure defense and participated in lobbying efforts to create greater protection for homeowners facing foreclosure. For the firm’s homeowner association clients, she provides annual educational training to homeowners and board members. She is an active member of the Colorado Springs community and has previously served on the Board of Directors of Goodwill Industries, Inc. of Colorado Springs including chair of the Operations and Sales Committee and a member of the Executive Committee.
Ms. Fortenberry is mother of two active teenagers who inspire and challenge her in the most confounding and unexpected ways! Hiking, biking, meditation, and picking vegetables in her backyard urban garden bring joy, awareness, and gratitude for each precious day.
